Moldovan acting PM has meeting with Turkish foreign affairs minister

Chisinau, 19 June /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi has discussed the bilateral Moldovan-Turkish agenda with Foreign Affairs Minister of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, in the context of participation in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.   

The meeting with the foreign affairs minister of the host country of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum confirmed the excellent level of the Moldovan-Turkish relations and occasioned the reaffirmation of the sides’ interest in a deep bilateral dialogue, in the spirit of the special friendship relations laid down though the Strategic Partnership between both states. The governor of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (Gagauz-Yeri), Irina Vlah, was also member of the delegation.  

Aureliu Ciocoi and Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu highlighted the importance of organizing, in the second half of 2021, the second meeting of the Council of High Level Strategic Cooperation. The sides also spoke out for boosting and diversifying the economic ties, which are on an ascendant tendency and welcomed the constant increase of the investment flow and commercial exchanges between Moldova and Turkey in the last years.  

In particular, the foreign affairs ministers stressed the importance for the business environment of the bilateral forums of economic cooperation, held on the last period. Acting PM Aureliu Ciocoi invited the Turkish media to consider the opportunity of the acceding of a Turkish financial institution into Moldova’s banking system. The Ankara diplomacy head gave assurances about the deep consideration of the proposal, meant to give an impetus to the bilateral commercial and economic contacts.   

Aureliu Ciocoi referred also to the good cooperation relations and constructive dialogue within the international and regional interaction platforms. He emphasized especially the opportunities of regional cooperation provided by the South-East European Cooperation Process – the most comprehensive organization in the Balkans area, the chairmanship-in-office of which was held by Turkey.   

The two ministers also tackled aspects on the regional security and process of settlement of frozen conflicts, management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic and the situation as to the residents’ immunization.

The Moldovan minister thanked for the support of Turkey provided to Moldova, in the context of combating the pandemic and appreciated the delivery of anti-Covid-19 vaccine as donation in the near future.
