Chisinau, 22 June /MOLDPRES/ - More than 91,000 doses of anti-Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Moldova in the last seven days, which means 631,346 doses administered in all and an immunization rate of 11.7 per cent. Data to this effect today was unveiled at a weekly news conference. Attending the event was also the representative of the Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO), Siddhartha Sankar Datta.

„All efforts made by Moldova’s authorities as to the residents’ vaccination are welcome. I am impressed by the innovations applied by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS) in the process of population’s vaccination and efforts of enhancement of the vaccine’s acceptability. The most recent proof clearly shows that the vaccines really work all over the world. We will be able to put an end to the pandemic only with the help of the vaccines,’’ Siddhartha Sankar Datta said.

So far, 82.8 per cent of the medical employees have been vaccinated against COVID-19, which contributed to the decrease by 90 per cent of the morbidity rate among them. A number of 1,421 adverse reactions were reported in all, of which 93.6 per cent with light forms and 6.4 per cent - with moderate forms.

„Every day, about 20,000 doses of vaccine against COVID-19 are administered. Thus, the medical system’s capacity to immunize the population, as well as the efforts made to this end is proved. Presently, 535 vaccination points work all over the country, which have an enough number of doses in stocks to immunize the citizens. Moldova has a stock of more than 380,000 vaccine doses. We urge the residents to be vaccinated against the virus and cease the pandemic together,’’ a state secretary at MSMPS, Denis Cernelea, said.

At the same time, the official noted that about 20,000 doses of Sputnik-V were to be distributed proportionally to the vaccination centres of Moldova.

„Dear citizens, on the summer period, we have an excellent opportunity to be vaccinated against COVID-19 massively. We have enough doses of vaccine and of more types. This is a very good occasion, in the context that we have a small number of cases of COVID-19 registered daily and we can go to vaccination in safety. Also, an opportunity is that no cases of Delta variant of Covid have been recorded in Moldova. Please, let us go to be vaccinated. In the United Kingdom, almost 50 per cent of the residents have been vaccinated with the vaccines AstraZeneca and Pfizer. And it was proved that the efficiency was more than 90 per cent to prevent people’s hospitalization and death,’’ the head of the National Committee of Experts in Immunization, Ninel Revenco, said.

Moldova has received 1, 096, 790 doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccine. To administer the vaccine, people can appeal to family physician or be scheduled through the platform www.vaccinare.gov.md.
