Chisinau, 14 July /MOLDPRES/ - The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) today explained more aspects concerning the latest messages made public on the situation on the fuels’ market.

According to ANRE, the methodology of calculation and enforcement of the prices for oil products was approved based on the provisions of the law for the amendment of the law on oil products’ market, at an initiative by independent MP Alexandru Oleinic.

“The law’s author worked out the draft, without resorting to the Agency’s expertise and without taking into account ANRE’s proposals submitted to parliament on its own initiative. Through the law, the Agency was put in the situation to fulfill in an extremely short period the law’s provisions, which contained serious legal, technical and conceptual mistakes,’’ ANRE said.

Starting from 1 July 2021, the maximal selling prices for the oil products are established in accordance with the new ANRE’s Methodology.

“Amid the continuous increase in the quotations at international exchanges and of the exchange rate of the national currency against the U.S. dollar, decision-makers managed to make unchanged the selling prices for oil products beginning with 14 June; moreover, starting from 1 July 2021, contrary to the global trend, the prices slightly decreased in Moldova,’’ according to the institution.

At the same time, in order to remove the deficiencies from the legislation, ANRE gives final touches to a string of proposals for the adjusting of the law on the oil products’ market and the related normative framework, which is to be considered as a priority and approved by the newly-elected parliament in an as short period as possible.

The National Energy Regulatory Agency informs that it will further do its utmost, in order not to allow the disturbing of the work of the oil sector and will ensure an efficient balance between the interests of the companies and the ones of the end consumers.

More networks of fuel supply stations from Moldova today warned that the stocks of diesel oil were almost exhausted and the country runs the risk of remaining without fuels. Also, last week, Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Minister Ion Perju said that ‘’following the approval by ANRE of the methodology of calculation and enforcement of the prices for oil products on 14 June, we have signals that farmers can take only small quantities of fuels from distribution chains, especially diesel, which cancels any possibilities to help farmers to supply the needed quantity for starting the agricultural works.’’
