Johnson & Johnson vaccines distributed to immunization centres from Moldova

Chisinau, 15 July /MOLDPRES/ - Those 151,200 doses of Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine, supplied through the COVAX platform, today reached all 530 vaccination centres of Moldova.   

According to the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), 15,000 doses were distributed to settlements from the left bank of Dniester.   

On 14 July, the medical employees involved in the process of vaccination against COVID-19 were trained as to the distribution, stocking and correct administering of the vaccine Janssen/Johnson & Johnson. The training was held at an online workshop, organized by MSMPS and the National Public Health Agency, with the support of the World Health Organization.    

The Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine is produced by the Johnson &Johnson American pharmaceutical company. The serum is administered intramuscularly with a single dose and is recommended to people with ages of at least 18 years. Clinic studies showed an efficiency of 66.3 per cent against all forms of disease and 100 per cent against the hospitalization triggered by COVID-19. More than 20 million doses of Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine have been administered worldwide so far.

An overall consignment of 518,000 doses of Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine is be brought to Moldova.

The Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy will organize a vaccination marathon on 18 July, during which people interested will be able to be vaccinated with the serum Janssen/Johnson & Johnson.
