Moldovan energy regulatory agency increases wholesale prices for oil products, liquid gas

15:27 | 16.07.2021 Category: Economic

Chisinau, 16 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Administrative Board of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) today approved the amendment of the decision from 14 June and increased the margins at the wholesale of the main oil products and liquid gas for the second quarter of 2021.

Thus, the trade margin for one ton of petrol or diesel imported will be by 380 lei higher and will increase by 150 lei in the case of the liquid gas. At the same time, the decision approved today will not influence the increase in the retail prices for oil products, with the pump price being calculated based on the earlier established parameters.

ANRE’s intervention occurs as a result of the regional crisis on the oil products market and the need to supply the agricultural sector, transport companies and the participants in the retail sales market who do not have licences for the import of the concerned products.

The change was approved following a round of public consultations on the concerned drafts with the participation of the sides interested and was made, in order to avoid a destabilization of the oil products market of Moldova. The decision was approved urgently, is a short-term one and afterwards the recently amended law on the oil products market will need to be revised.

At the same time, ANRE warned that tendentious messages had been recorded in the behaviour of some participants in the oil products market in the last weeks and there were reasonable suspicions to describe them as an organized boycott, aimed at destabilizing the economic situation in Moldova. ‘’Moreover, through the spread of distorted information in mass media and a notification submitted to the prosecutor general’s office on 15 July, a participant in this market made an attempt to block the today’s meeting,’’  ANRE said

Similar actions, superposed on the ones of the aforementioned oil companies, can be noticed on behalf of so-called experts, who launch public messages containing false information or analyses which seem to be made to order.

ANRE believes that such phenomena cannot be tolerated and are to be considered by the institutions with powers and duties in the sector. It is worth mentioning that the Criminal Code contains legal classifications for false denunciation or false complaint, which is made in order to accuse somebody of committing an offence or a deliberately false complaint about the committing of an offence, made to a body or a decision-maker.

ANRE will continue monitoring the developments in the process of Moldova’s supply with oil products and will quickly intervene if necessary.
