Chisinau, 22 July /MOLDPRES/ - Fifty five per cent of the teachers who work in the education institutions from the Moldovan capital have been vaccinated. At the same time, 70 per cent of the teachers need to be vaccinated for the opening of the municipal education institutions with the physical presence of pupils in classrooms.

The acting head of the Social Assistance and Health general department of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), Boris Galca, at a today’s CMC meeting, said that an increase in the percentage of vaccinated teachers was necessary for the work of the municipal education institutions with pupils’ physical presence. ‘’A single professional category working in the municipal institutions from the city has a 90-percent vaccination, it is about the medical employees,’’ the official said.

At the same time, Galca warned that ‘’the window of vaccination against COVID-19 is closing’’, as more dangerous variants of this virus have appeared in the region. ‘’Even if the Health Ministry has not confirmed the presence of the Delta variant, the non-vaccinated people enter the area of risk of falling ill with serious forms of coronavirus,’’ Galca said.

According to official data by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, about 14 per cent of the residents have vaccinated in Moldova, while in Chisinau, the percentage of the immunized people is higher – 24 %.
