Chisinau, 9 August /MOLDPRES/- Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenco was introduced today to the ministerial team by Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliţă.

"We have very clear objectives in the field of justice reform, prosecutor's office reform and the judiciary. Over the years, there have been several reforms that have not contributed to improving justice. We now have a favorable situation for change. The President, the Parliament and the Government work in a team. We have the same goal and we will benefit from these four years of political stability to do whatever it takes. We will have to work selflessly to bring these results to real life, not just on paper. I urge everyone to get involved, "said Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, during the presentation of the new Minister of Justice.

Sergiu Litvinenco said "the justice reform that is much awaited by the people". "The Ministry of Justice has the responsibility to develop, implement and promote policies and reforms through which to achieve the reform of justice and bring the justice that citizens need. We need to complete that justice reform strategy that has been developed within the ministry. Likewise, we need to draft a law on the external evaluation of judges and prosecutors, which would be in line with the constitutional provisions and standards of the Venice Commission and would be implemented in such a way that, in the end, we can say that we have took some very concrete steps to have fair judges and prosecutors and, respectively, to carry out justice reform. I rely on support, so that together we can make this reform and build the rule of law that the Republic of Moldova needs ", he said.

Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița and the new Cabinet of Ministers received the confidence vote from the parliament on 6 August.
