Moldovan foreign minister meets US official

Chisinau, 9 August /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration met today Laura Hruby, in charge of ad-interim affairs of the United States Embassy in Chisinau, the MAEIE press service has reported.
The sides called for the promotion of a consistent and effective strategic dialogue with the United States, including the development and adoption of a roadmap for strengthening democratic institutions and good governance in Moldova, fighting corruption, ensuring energy security, economic and financial development, security and defense cooperation.
Also, Popescu stressed the importance of advancing in implementing the necessary reforms to negotiate a new multi-annual assistance package under the Compact Program, which could be offered to our country by the US Government through the Millennium Challenge Corporation.
The deputy premier thanked the American people for their support during the pandemic, especially the 301,200 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccines that have already arrived in Chisinau through the COVAX platform, in the total donation of 500,000 doses.
