Over 15% of Moldovan people vaccinated against COVID-19

Chisinau, 10 August /MOLDPRES/- In the Republic of Moldova, 1,103,335 doses of vaccine were administered, which represents a 15% rate without counting the persons vaccinated abroad. The data were presented today by the leadership of the Ministry of Health, which stated that our country is already under the Orange Code by COVID.

The chairman of the National Committee of Immunization Experts, Ninel Revenco, said that the highest vaccination rate is registered in the capital, with over 20 percent, and the lowest - in Gagauzia with about 10 percent of the immunized population . Revenco said that in the last week the number of cases of infection with the new coronavirus has increased significantly and the number of deaths caused by this virus has increased by over 140 percent.

In the Republic of Moldova, as well as worldwide, the number of minors infected with COVID has increased. She urged teachers to get vaccinated so that they could return to physical classes from September.

The leadership of the Ministry of Health announced that, in the next period, the meeting of the Extraordinary National Commission of Public Health will take place where the situation will be discussed, after the Red Code of COVID was announced in several districts of the country. Health experts say the only way to reduce the new wave of infection is vaccination.
