Sheriff team - Champions League play-off

Chisinau, 11 August /MOLDPRES/- Sheriff Tiraspol team qualified for the playoff of the Champions League, after defeating yesterday at home, score 1-0, the Serbian team Crvena Zvezda Belgrade, in the third preliminary round of this league.

The goal of the players from the Republic of Moldova was scored by Arboleda Hurtado in the extra time of the first half (45 + 2), sources from FMF specified.

In the round the match ended in a draw - 1-1. Thus, Sheriff Tiraspol defeated Crvena Zvezda with the general score 2-1 and qualified in the play-off of the Champions League, ensuring at least its participation in the groups of the Europa League.

The champion of Moldova has access for the third time in the Champions League play-off, after she managed this performance in the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons. At the same time, the Tiraspol team for the first time goes through three preliminary rounds in the Champions League.

In the first preliminary round, Sheriff defeated the team Teuta (Albania), and in the second he eliminated Alashkert (Armenia), ensuring at least its participation in the Europa Conference League groups.

In the UCL play-off, the Tiraspol team will play with Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia). The first match will take place in Tiraspol, on August 17, and the return match - away, on August 25.
