Moldovan president meets Japanese envoy

Chisinau, 12 August /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu had a meeting this morning with Ambassador of Japan to Moldova Yoshihiro Katayama. On this occasion, the head of state congratulated Japan for the excellent organization of the Tokyo Olympic Games despite the pandemic situation, the presidential press service has reported.
"We discussed the intensification of bilateral relations, including economic ones, between our countries, about the increase of exports, the facilitation of Japanese investments in the Republic of Moldova, as well as about the mutual encouragement of tourism," said the president. The head of state also thanked the Japanese Ambassador for the development support provided to our country and for supporting our European path. At the same time, she wanted to mention the Japanese help in combating the Covid-19 pandemic, offered through donations for the Moldovan health system and through the significant contribution to the COVAX platform.
Maia Sandu reiterated that Japan is a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova. "We have a good potential for collaboration that can be fully used by strengthening the dialogue between our countries," she said.
