Moldovan cabinet approves reorganisation of four ministries

Chisinau, 12 August /MOLDPRES/- The Government approved today a project on reorganization of the specialized central public administration, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The document stipulates that the former Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure is renamed the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR), being created, separately, the Ministry of Economy (ME). The latter institution will take over from MIDR the following areas of competence: economics, quality infrastructure and market surveillance, as well as information technology.

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research was divided into two separate institutions: the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) and the Ministry of Culture (MC), the latter being responsible for culture and national heritage, but also tourism, by taking over these competencies from MIDR.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection has also been separated into two institutions: the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (MMPS), which will be responsible for labor, social protection and demography.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment has been renamed the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI), and the Ministry of Environment (MM), a separate institution, will cover the following sectors: environmental protection, climate change and natural resources. At the same time, the field of regional development and that of spatial planning will pass into MIDR management.

The reorganized ministries, within 15 days, will present to the Government the corresponding amendments to their organization and functioning regulations, structure and staffing limit, lists of subordinated administrative authorities, etc., including proposals for redistribution to newly created ministries of budget allocations. approved by the State Budget Law for 2021. Additional financial means will not be allocated for this purpose.
