Moldovan, Lithuanian officials approach cooperation, reforms

Chisinau, 17 August /MOLDPRES/- Lithuania reconfirms support for consolidating the European integration of the Republic of Moldova and for achieving the reform agenda in our country. Lithuanian Ambassador to Chisinau Kęstutis Kudzmanas made the statement at a meeting with Speaker Igor Grosu, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The speaker noted the role of Lithuania in supporting the European integration efforts of the Republic of Moldova, taking into account the Lithuanian initiative to create the Friendship Coalition in the format of the EU Associated Trio: the 3 countries that have signed an Association Agreement with the EU - Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia - and EU countries.

"We appreciate the positive dynamics of Moldovan-Lithuanian political dialogue and sectoral cooperation and emphasize the importance of expanding and diversifying bilateral relations, as well as turning to good account interparliamentary cooperation potential," said Igor Grosu.

In this context, the officials agreed on mutual visits to the parliamentary leadership, which would allow for a broader consultative framework, as well as possible transfers of experience to topics of common interest.

The speaker reiterated the priorities of the new Legislature, including the fight against corruption, justice reform, economic growth and others.

Kęstutis Kudzmanas reconfirmed openness to share Lithuania's experience in the process of implementing reforms in our country. The ambassador assured that the Republic of Moldova will continue to receive support from Lithuania, including in the process of integration into the European Union.
