Germany to support reforms of Ministry of Agriculture and Food

Chisinau, 18 August /MOLDPRES/- The German government will provide support in sustainable economic development, and in the context of collaboration with the new Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, may provide support or expertise in the field of marketing, trade and economic cooperation in the field, etc., said Angela Ganninger, German Ambassador to Moldova at yesterday's meeting with minister Viorel Gherciu.

The German ambassador welcomed the current reform of the ministries and voiced willingness for further productive cooperation, wishing the Minister much success in meeting the priorities of the mandate.

The officials also discussed the projects implemented in recent years with the support of the German Government in the field of agriculture, establishing the next priorities of bilateral cooperation in the management areas of the ministry, including intensifying trade and economic exchanges, developing joint projects, identifying optimal solutions. Moldovan-German joint production and processing companies of agri-food products or partnerships with fruit and vegetable processing companies in our country, establishing partnerships with higher education and research institutions in Germany, as well as joint application to projects under Erasmus Programs , other programs.

Viorel Gherciu thanked the German Government for providing support in promoting the policies of the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment in recent years and expressed confidence in continuing effective cooperation with Germany and implementing new joint cooperation projects in agriculture and food industry, including through the Agency. of International Cooperation of Germany (GIZ), in the context of the new structure of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.

With the support of the German Government, in the period 2016-2018, the Agency for International Cooperation of Germany (GIZ) implemented in our country the project "Structural Reform in Technical Vocational Education in the Republic of Moldova". The main objective of the project was to improve policies and the institutional framework by adopting elements of dual vocational training, providing technical and financial assistance worth about two million euros for the development of technical vocational education through dual system. Other projects implemented with the support of Germany were in the field of regional development.
