Two EU-financed projects in Ungheni carried out under schedule

Chisinau, 19 August /MOLDPRES/ - The management of the Centru Regional Development Agency (ADR Centru) and specialists in the projects’ monitoring today paid a working visit to sides of regional development projects implemented in the western Ungheni city at present. Participating in the visit were also representatives of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), entrepreneurs who carry out construction works, as well as representatives of local public authorities.
The first object monitored was the project, Improvement of water and sewerage supply services in the Ungheni city, where about 9.5 km of aqueduct have been built and almost 7.3 of gravitational sewerage were constructed. Also here, two pumping stations have been constructed and 770 metres of sewerage under pressure were set. The construction contract is worth 55.73 million lei, the duration of carrying out of the works contracted is of 12 months.
In continuation, the monitoring team visited the institution where works are carried out within the project, Enhancement of energy efficiency of the Mihai Eminescu Theoretical Lyceum from the Ungheni city. The value of the construction contract is of 47.56 million lei, the duration of carrying out of the works contracted is of 12 months.
Thanks to the implementation of this investment measure, 101 employees and 1,187 pupils of the Mihai Eminescu lyceum will benefit from improved conditions of comfort at the lyceum; the consumption of the energy will be cut by 1,500 MW/hour at this institution and the normed annual emissions of CO2 will be diminished by 330 tons.
The two projects are financed by the European Union, in cooperation with the project, Modernization of Local Public Services in Moldova. It is implemented by GIZ, in partnership with the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry and financially backed by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
