Two development projects backed by EU put into operation in south Moldova district

Chisinau, 21 August /MOLDPRES/ - The projects titled, Improvement of services of supply with water of the settlements Iargara, Filipeni, Romanovca and Cupcui and Extension of the sewerage system in the Leova town: Construction of the residual waters’ pumping station in the Leova town, have been inaugurated. According to specialists, the successful implementation of these projects favoured the beneficiaries’ living environment, giving them access to drinking water and qualitative sewerage services.
Due to this project, over 12,000 citizens from the settlements Iargara, Filipeni, Romanovca and Cupcui from the Leova district will benefit from improved water supply services. The project was implemented with the European Union’s support.
According to the South Regional Development Agency (ADR Sud), the network of aqueduct has a length of 99 km. The construction works within the project started in September 2020, the cost of these works was over 91 million lei, of which about 10 million lei represents the beneficiaries’ local contribution.
Within this investment measure, the entrepreneur contracted constructed also another two water reservoirs and five installations for water’s disinfection with sodium hypochlorite. The project sees also the connection of 3,409 consumers to the newly built water distribution networks.
The project, Improvement of services of supply with water of the settlements Iargara, Filipeni, Romanovca and Cupcui from the Leova district is financed by the European Union and implemented by ADR Sud and the project Modernization of Local Public Services in Moldova (MSPL). The MSPL project is financed by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation Moldova, in partnership with the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry and the Environment Ministry.
