Green Theatre from Moldovan capital might be redesigned

Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau city hall will arrange in phases the Green Theatre from the Mills Valley Park.

At a 23 August online meeting of the municipal services, the Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, said that the capital’s administration wanted to arrange, in phases, the Green Theatre. ‘’The city hall does not have the overall sum for a capital repair, as the costs amount to more million lei. We ruled to arrange the Theatre in phases,’’ the mayor noted.

According to Ceban, the designing of the entire park will be elaborated at the first stage; afterwards, the chairs will be restored, as well as the entire area where the open-air hall is placed. The third phase deals with the arrangement of a car park in the upper side of the theatre and in the end, the stage and the building are to be rehabilitated. ‘’In the near future, we will start consultations with the organizers of events, in order to formulate a general concept on the way this theatre can be redesigned,’’ the mayor also said.

Ion Ceban stressed that the need to restore the Green Theatre was grounded by public health reasons, as the open-air location is safer for the holding of cultural events. ‘’The theatre is demanded and the residents are willing to come to events. The city hall must turn to good account this space, which has a special place in Chisinau’s history,’’ the official specified.

The Green Theatre from Chisinau has a capacity of 6,700 places and is among the biggest open-air theatres in Europe.
