Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament approved the draft law on the Customs Code in the final reading at the plenary meeting today.

The adoption of the new Customs Code comes from the need to fulfill the commitments taken by the country through the signing of the Moldova-European Union Association Agreement.

The new Customs Code is meant to systematize the customs legislation of Moldova, which comprises the present Customs Code, the law on the customs tariff and the law on the introduction and taking out of assets by private people from Moldova. The new Customs Code contains 11 titles; each title is divided in chapters and the latter – in sections.

The first Customs Code was adopted in 1993; in 2000, the new Customs Code was passed, as well as the law on the service in customs bodies. The national and international economic developments, competition on the external stage prompted the need of new customs concepts.
