Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ - The Centru Regional Development Agency (ADR) on 23 August was host of a delegation of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). The visit to Ialoveni was initiated on the occasion of the end of the mandate in Moldova of the manager of the project, Modernization of Local Public Services in Moldova, Christina Otto. At the meeting, the German side gave assurances that it would back development projects in central Moldova.

The participants in a joint meeting discussed projects which are presently implemented in the Centru Region with the support of German partners, as well as prospects for cooperation for the near future.

GIZ has been assisting Moldova in the process of social and economic transformation since 1994. The organization works on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Cooperation and Economic Development (BMZ) and other federal ministries, as well as on behalf of international organizations in Moldova. In late 2021, the period of implementation of the GIZ project on the modernization of local public services in Moldova is ending. This project provided significant support in the process of the entire country’s regional development.

Presently, six regional projects are carried out in the Centru Region in the sector of energy efficiency and ensuring the supply with water and sewerage, implemented in cooperation with the project, Modernization of local Public Services in Moldova. The project is managed by the German Agency for International Cooperation, in partnership with the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry and is financially backed by the government of Germany.
