Moldovan head of state meets president of Poland

Chisinau, 26 August /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met President of Poland Andrzej Duda at an official ceremony in Chisinau, the presidential press service has reported.     

The two heads of state had a face-to-face meeting, during which they discussed the boosting of the bilateral relations and Moldova’s European agenda. Subsequently, Presidents Maia Sandu and Andrzej Duda led the conversations in enlarged format with the members of the two delegations, after which they held a joint news conference.    

„I was happy to greet President of Poland, Mr. Andrzej Duda, in Chisinau today. We had a very good discussion, as Poland’s experience of development is particularly useful for Moldova. We agreed to work out concrete projects, with the help of which we should takeover good practices of Poland in the regional development and agriculture fields, fiscal administration and digitalization of the public services, energy sector. The fostering of the contacts between the two countries will be, first of all, for the benefit of the citizens,’’ Maia Sandu said.     

In the context, the Moldovan head of state thanked for the country’s inclusion in the list of states recipients of development assistance through the Polish Aid platform, in key sectors, such as the good governance, rural development, agriculture, etc. ‘’We are also grateful for the work of the Solidarity Fund Foundation from Poland, which finances more projects for communities’ development. It is important for us to be able to extend these projects in the country, for Moldova to be able to quicker advance on the modernization way,’’ the Moldovan president noted.  

At the same time, Maia Sandu appreciated Poland’s firm support for Moldova’s European aspirations and the efforts made by Warsaw to include Moldova in European assistance programmes.  

For his part, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that the changes were indispensable for Moldova to become a strong, influential and more democratic state.  

„I promised every openness as regards the providing of the needed assistance for the carrying out of reforms in Moldova. We will provide you with this support, turning to account our experience and while taking into account the changes which took place in Poland. We are ready to support Moldova in its European aspirations,’’ the Polish official said.   

President of Poland Andrzej Duda is on a two-day official visit to Moldova, at an invitation by President Maia Sandu.
