Moldovan PM meets Polish president

Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/- Priority issues on the Moldovan-Polish agenda were discussed yesterday at a meeting between Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița and President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda, on an official visit to Moldova, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The premier welcomed the high guest's visit to Chisinau and thanked Poland for the constant and significant support provided in several priority areas: European integration, pandemic crisis management by donating medical equipment and the assistance provided by the Polish side in Development Assistance Program (Polish Aid).

The Prime Minister stressed that European integration is the main strategic priority of the Government: "We are committed to making all necessary efforts to make significant progress in implementing the Association Agreement with the EU and ensuring European standards in the Republic of Moldova", adding that the authorities will focus on justice reform and the fight against corruption, as well as the economic and social reforms needed to increase the well-being of citizens.

Turning to good account bilateral trade and economic potential was another topic on the agenda. In this context, the Prime Minister voiced Moldova's willingness to promote exports of Moldovan goods on the Polish market, given that the Republic of Poland remains a valuable partner for our country, occupying the leading position among EU countries in importing Moldovan wines.

Andrzej Duda said he was ready to offer unconditional assistance to the Republic of Moldova for European path and for building a strong economic, stable and secure state in the region. He added that the Polish government is willing to provide assistance for reforms in agriculture, security, education and justice.

The officials said that the dialogue will contribute to boosting bilateral cooperation in the social, political, economic and cultural fields.

Andrzej Duda is in Chisinau on August 26-27 and will participate in the festive event dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova.
