Moldovan top officials laid flowers at Stefan cel Mare monument

Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu together with President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita laid flowers at Stefan cel Mare monument today.

As high guest, Polish President Andrzej Duda attended the event, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The ceremony was part of festive events dedicated to Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova.

MPs and members of the Government, representatives of the diplomatic staff accredited in our country, other officials attended the event.

After the flower-laying ceremony, the country's leadership and senior guests will watch the Military Parade dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Moldova on the Great National Assembly Square.

The Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova was adopted and signed by 278 deputies on August 27, 1991.

In the context of the 30th anniversary of Independence, original documents were presented in the Parliament, in a thematic exhibition, which have a tangent with the period of creation and affirmation of the country as an independent state. Among the documents on display are the Declaration of Independence re-established after the events of 2009, including the list of people's deputies from the Republic of Moldova from 1990-1994 who voted for it, the most important laws adopted by the Parliament of Independence that laid the foundations of the independent state.
