Moldova's Agency for Military Science and Memory presents unpublished documents on creation of National Army

Chisinau, 1 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Agency for Military Science and Memory, on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the National Army’s foundation, has presented a collection titled, Creation and Evolution of Moldova’s National Army, by Vitalie Ciobanu and Sergiu Plot, which includes 207 unpublished documents, which show the setting up and evolution of the national military organization on the period June 1990-November 2020.   

The materials included in this collection of documents come from the funds of the Agency for Military Science and Memory and the Defence Ministry’s archive. Some relevant materials were selected also from the personal archive of military staff, who stayed at the basis of the National Army’s foundation in early 1990s.   

The documents presented make a general picture on the creation of the national military organization on the period after the declaring of Moldova’s sovereignty and independence. The string of documents unveiled represent an important source both for writing the National Army’s history by researchers in the sector and for informing the wide public, interested in the origins and development of Moldova’s military organization.

Also, participants in a jubilee conference titled, Moldova’s National Army – 30th Anniversary of Foundation, presented an album titled, Moldova’s National Army, which represents a review of the process of creation and evolution of the national military organization during those 30 years of existence, participation of Moldovan servicemen in various peacekeeping operations under the aegis of the United Nations, OSCE, other international structures, military exercises in various scenes of operations, multilateral and bilateral cooperation in the military sector.
