Moldovan-French bilateral cooperation discussed in Chisinau

Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/ - We are happy to see that Moldova is nearer and nearer to the European integration. Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean Yves Le Drian has made statements to this effect at a joint news conference with Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu.     

The Moldovan diplomacy head said that this was the first visit by a French minister after 2014. “France and Moldova have never been such close as now. Today, we discussed more projects concerning the re-afforestation, irrigation, water and sewerage supply, energy efficiency. We want to re-give an impetus including to the bilingual francophone education in Moldova. We will boost the support for the training of Moldovan teachers, bilingual classes and mobility scholarships for teachers. Also, France will help the National Integrity Authority to strengthen its capacity of combating corruption, including in the political establishment,’’ Popescu said.        

The French minister said that he was pleasantly surprised to see that ‘’Moldova is ready to make its own destiny and that it is closer to the European integration.’’ ‘’We affirm our full support as to the priorities launched by head of state Maia Sandu and we assure you of the every support of France in strengthening the aspirations to Moldova’s European anchoring,’’ Jean Yves Le Drian said.   

The French minister also said that France and Moldova had agreed on continuing the political exchanges for the EU’s Eastern Partnership Summit, schedule for next December and the forthcoming French EU Presidency in the first half of 2022.
