Moldovan government considers actions on support for economy, citizens on pandemic period

Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita today had a meeting with the heads of the working groups of the Economic Council under the Prime Minister. The participants discussed more draft initiatives for removing constraints in the entrepreneurial activity and support of enterprises on the pandemic period. According to the PM, the cabinet will back initiatives with impact, which are to provide support to the economic environment and the society, in general, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

„The government’s presently works on the elaboration of a string of actions for backing the economy, maintaining the jobs and social protection of the citizens. We will come up with initiatives through the subsidization of the shortened working time for employees and enhancing companies’ access to working capital. Also, solutions are needed for the public and inter-urban transport, as the highest hotbeds of infection are recorded there. Along with you, we will analyze the worst hit sectors and we will come up with as targeted as possible actions on sectors and proposals of policies, which would help these sectors remain competitive,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.       

The heads of those seven working groups presented proposals in fields within their competence. Thus, they referred to legislative amendments dealing with the economy’s digitalization, adjusting the national legislation to the European one as regards the personal data, improving the legal framework in the competition field. At the same time, the participants in the meeting proposed the re-conceptualizing of the duty of the control bodies, with emphasis on the prevention and consultancy of entrepreneurs in the enforcement of legislative provisions. The economic initiatives were unveiled, in order to facilitate the cross-border trade, in accordance with the Agreement of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA).   

Also, the participants considered more options on the promotion of the technological innovation in diverse sectors of the economy, such as the ensuring in electronic format of a minimal set of documents, without the need of physical presence when taking the act. In the context, they agreed on organizing a working meeting with the authorities involved for coordinating the necessary actions.     

 „We are willing to provide assistance on behalf of the state, to come up with courageous policies, through which we are to stimulate the demand on market, economic activity and help the vulnerable residents. We must moderate the pandemic wave from this autumn and reduce its impact on families and economic agents.

In one week, I ask to come up with concrete actions, systematized on diverse fields. It is important that we rely on well-though out analyses and consolidate the state’s capacity,’’ Prime Minister Gavrilita added.
