Moldovan writer turned 93 today

Chisinau, 3 September /MOLDPRES/- Prose writer, playwright and essayist Ion Druță, People's Writer, honorary member of the Romanian Academy and full member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova turned 93 today.
He is decorated with several orders and medals, holds the title of People's Writer.
He was included in the list of the ten writers in the world for 1990 ("Literary Moldova" of July 26, 1995).
In August 2008, Ion Druţă was awarded the State Prize for his exceptional contribution to the development of national and universal culture and literature. In September 2009 Ion Druta became the first knight of the "Bogdan the Founder" order. Then President of the Republic of Moldova Vladimir Voronin decorated Ion Druta as a sign of deep gratitude for his special contribution to the national renaissance, for his merits in developing cultural relations with foreign countries and prodigious activity in order to increase Moldova's prestige internationally.
Ion Druta's work has been translated into dozens of languages.
