Chisinau, 3 September /MOLDPRES/ - The rules on establishing the tariffs for postal services were changed starting from 1 September 2021, with the prices fully liberalized. The cabinet approved a draft to this effect at a today’s meeting, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

According to the new provisions, all providers of postal services will have equal rights and obligations and the tariffs for the postal services will be applied in the same way all over the country. It is worth mentioning that, till 1 September this year, the provider of the universal postal service, state enterprise, Posta Moldovei (Moldova’s Post) benefited from preferential tariffs, while the other post operators were obliged to set a tariff at least three-fold higher than the preferential one.

At the same time, decision-makers approved the minimal requirements as to the arrangement of the rooms provided by the services provided in the places of the post’s international exchange. Thus, the providers of postal services will be able to subject the international postal shipments to customs examination in rooms arranged according to certain requirements, among which the marking with a panel titled, Customs control zone, of the space delimited by the rest of the area, equipment for goods’ manipulation, in line with the specific character of the international postal shipments, terminals for automated introduction of data, video supervision system, etc.

It is worth to be mentioned that only 12 out of all 57 providers of postal services registered in Moldova have places for post’s international exchange, which are given a period of six months for arranging the concerned places according to the new requirements.
