Project on bilingual francophone classes to be consolidated in Moldova, after signing of partnership convention

Chisinau, 3 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Convention on Partnership between the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE), Education and Research Ministry, Embassy of France in Moldova, French Alliance in Moldova, International Organization of La Francophonie and the Francophone University Agency was signed at the headquarters of the Gheorghe Asachi Theoretical Lyceum on 2 September, on the sidelines of the visit to Chisinau by the French diplomacy head, Jean Yves Le Drian.

The press service of MAEIE has told MOLDPRES that the Convention was set to ensure the international recognition of the bilingual education in Moldova and reconfirmed the high quality of the bilingual education at those eight lyceums included in the project.   

In the context, the Moldovan diplomacy head, Nicu Popescu, highlighted that the signing of the Partnership Convention conveyed a strong message of support to the project of bilingual francophone classes in education institutions from Moldova.   

The official discussed also with representatives of teachers the efforts which can be made abroad, in order to back the initial and continuous training of the teachers who teach in the francophone bilingual classes.    

Foreign Affairs Minister Nicu Popescu said that the strengthening of the competence of knowledge of foreign languages and the turning to good account of the opportunities of education for young people from Moldova was one of the priorities of the Moldovan diplomacy. Popescu noted that the Foreign Affairs Ministry would continue promoting this goal at other high-level visits as well.
