Chisinau, 4 September /MOLDPRES/ - A consignment of 100,000 quick tests for detecting the antigen of SARS CoV-2 were brought to Chisinau on 3 September evening, being part of the international assistance mission provided by Romania to Moldova. The tests were stocked in the deposit of the National Public Health Agency (ANSP) and are to be distributed to the public medical and sanitary institutions.

”The testing for the SARS-CoV-2 virus has a key role in the fight against the Covid-19 infection. Thanks to this generous assistance provided by Romania, we will be able to quickly detect the COVID-19 cases, in order to prevent the serious ones and limit the infection’s spread. We express gratitude to the Romanian side for the solidarity showed on all the period of the COVID-19 pandemic. I call on the entire society to prove solidarity, to get vaccinated, test and observe the caution measures, such as the wearing of the mask. Only through joint efforts, we will return to the normal life, without restrictions, as soon as possible,’’ Health Minister Ala Nemerenco said at the ceremony on the delivery of the consignment of humanitarian assistance.

For his part, Ambassador of Romania to Moldova Daniel Ionita highlighted the close bilateral cooperation relation between the two countries and the unity which emerged at the level of society, especially on the period of the Covid-19 pandemic. This unity was displayed by the providing of more humanitarian assistance consignments to Moldova, including ones of vaccines against Covid-19 and medical and individual protection equipment.

At the same time, Daniel Ionita wished all Moldova’s citizens good health and urged them to be responsible, show confidence in scientists who developed the vaccines, observe the epidemiological measures and be vaccinated against Covid-19, in order to be protected from the infection.

The humanitarian assistance was provided to Moldova based on the decision from 26 August by the Romanian National Committee for Emergency Situations and the carriage of those 100,000 quick antigen tests to Chisinau was provided by the Romania’s Department for Emergency Situations, through the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU).
