EU to give Moldova all necessary support in carrying out reforms

Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/- The European agenda of the Republic of Moldova and the prospects for developing partnership relations were addressed at a meeting between Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița and new head of the European Union Delegation in Chisinau Janis Mazeiks, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Gavrilita congratulated the new EU Ambassador on appointment and wished  success. Natalia Gavrilița spoke about the government's willingness to boost the partnership relations in implementing the Association Agreement. "European integration is the number one priority for us. We are aware of the high responsibility we have in achieving this major goal and we are ready to launch the necessary reforms in order to align Moldova with EU standards ", the premier said.

The two officials reviewed the main objectives in promoting the European path of the Republic of Moldova and spoke about the need to continue reforms in areas of major importance. In this context, Janis Mazeiks expressed the support of the European Union in this broad process: "The European Union will provide Moldova with all the necessary support in carrying out reforms," ​​said the new head of the European Delegation in Chisinau.

Janis Mazeiks was Undersecretary of State, Political Director in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia. In 2006-2007 Mazeiks was the adviser to the Latvian President on foreign policy, in 2007-2011 - ambassador, resident representative of Latvia to the UN in Geneva, and in 2013-2018 - ambassador, resident representative of Latvia to the UN in New York.
