Moldovan speaker meets special representative of OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Transnistrian settlement

Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu met Thomas Mayr-Harting, Special Representative of OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Transnistrian Settlement Process, the parliament's communications and public relations department has reported.

The head of the Delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova to the OSCE PA, Vladimir Bolea, the head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Claus Neukirch, the Swedish Ambassador to Chisinau, Katarina Fried were present at the meeting.

The discussions focused on the priority topics on the agenda of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova's collaboration with the OSCE.

The parties examined steps to strengthen trust and dialogue between the two banks of the Dniester, able to advance the Transnistrian settlement process at all levels, with priority given to the protection of human rights and freedom of movement.

"We discussed the pandemic situation and confirmed our openness to continue providing support, vaccines and equipment to support efforts to combat the pandemic on the left bank of the Dniester. We also talked about the human rights situation in the region and about the need to ensure free movement between shores ", said Igor Grosu.

There was also talk about the problem of plates with neutral numbers, expressing the hope that together they will find solutions, so that ordinary citizens do not suffer.

The Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Conflict Settlement Process assured of firm readiness to provide the necessary support to make progress on key issues.
