EU remains strategic partner of Moldova - president says

Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu spoke this afternoon with Director-General for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation and the OSCE of the European External Action Service Michael Siebert and with Deputy Head of Directorate for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission Katarina Mathernova, the presidential press service has reported.
The officials reviewed the current situation in the Republic of Moldova and the prospects for cooperation with the EU.
"We mentioned that the EU remains a strategic partner of the Republic of Moldova, and European assistance is essential both in the context of the country's economic recovery and for the development programs that the current Government plans to launch," Maia Sandu said.
The meeting also focused on opportunities offered by the Eastern Partnership and how they can be used for the benefit of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
