Moldovan, European officials broach cooperation

Chisinau, 14 September /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu met Michael Siebert, Executive Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, European External Action Service (EEAS) and Janis Mazeiks, Head of the European Union Delegation to Moldova, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The meeting was also attended by Doina Gherman, head of the Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration.

The officials discussed the relations between the Republic of Moldova and the EU, as well as the implementation of the necessary reform agenda throughout its European course. The objectives of the Parliament to be achieved in the next period were also reviewed.

Igor Grosu thanked the EU for constant support, especially in combating the Covid-19 pandemic crisis, while stressing the importance of maintaining a permanent open dialogue with European partners and representatives.

“We are consistent throughout the Republic of Moldova of European integration and we will make every effort to progress in the implementation of the Association Agreement. The priority of this Parliament is the fight against corruption and the reform of the judiciary. We are committed to restoring people's trust in the judiciary and in state institutions. Also, by eliminating corruption, we will attract investments, and our country will modernize and develop economically ", said Igor Grosu.

Another important topic discussed by officials was the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. The President of the Parliament mentioned that the Chisinau authorities are open to launch a strategic dialogue between the parties, and the approach of the subject in question is focused on the interests of the citizens on both banks.

Finally, the advancement of cooperation on the parliamentary dimension was discussed, including at the level of committees to be so, reflecting current issues in all areas - health, education, business environment, infrastructure and others.
