Moldovan parliament starts parliamentary control over CNA activity

Chisinau, 14 September /MOLDPRES/- The Committee on National Security, Defense and Public Order and the legal committee on rules and immunities met today to initiate parliamentary control over of the National Anticorruption Center (CNA).

The meeting took place as a result of the adoption by the Legislature, on September 9, of the Decision on the initiation of parliamentary control over the activity of the CNA.

Thus, in the joint meeting of the two parliamentary committees, Lilian Carp was elected chairman of the committee responsible for conducting parliamentary control. The person responsible for the correspondence of the Commission with the National Anticorruption Center, during the evaluation process of its activity, was appointed Sergiu Sîrbu, consultant of the legal committee on rules and immunities.

The members of the commission examined the proposals regarding the time frame of the CNA activity that will be subject to evaluation. Thus, it was decided that it will be the period 2016-2021.

At the same time, the members of the commission established a series of priority topics that will be examined in the evaluation process. These include the acts of corruption of deputies and the actions taken by the CNA to elucidate these cases; staff turnover in the institution; hearing and evaluation of the CNA report for 2020; the objectives assumed by each of the CNA leaders, during the reference period and the degree of their achievement; evaluation of the monitoring reports of the NAC activity by the international institutions and of the recommendations for the period 2016-2021; the number of criminal cases investigated by CNA employees regarding acts of corruption in the field of justice, including those completed and sent to the courts; the activity of the internal security subdivision of CNA, the research cases of the CNA employees.

In accordance with the Parliament's Decision, the report on the parliamentary control carried out is to be presented within up to 30 days, in the plenary of the Legislature.
