French Embassy in Chisinau launched training program for Moldovan journalists

Chisinau, 19 September /MOLDPRES/- The French Embassy in Chisinau and its partners have announced the official launch of the "Media and Democracy" training program for journalists in the Republic of Moldova.

According to the Embassy, ​​this training program, which is part of the talks held by Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Maia Sandu in February in Paris, aims to consolidate and support democratic processes in the Republic of Moldova, by strengthening the independent press.

The training of journalists will take place in two stages. The first will take place on November 22-26, in Chisinau. Twelve journalists from various written, audiovisual and online media will follow five modules led by Moldovan and French experts, which will discuss topics such as the rule of law, investigative journalism, the fight against false news, climate challenges and the need to reconcile religious freedom and secularism.

Subsequently, from November 29 to December 3, in the French city of Strasbourg, the headquarters of many European institutions, Moldovan journalists will live every morning to the rhythm of the editorial staff of an important regional daily "Les Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace". In addition to discussions with French colleagues about the practice of journalism, they will meet various personalities from civil society, justice and the political world in constant contact with the media. Journalists will also have the opportunity to visit the European Parliament, the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights.

This first edition, accompanied by conferences and a closing colloquium, benefits from the support of many partners: Soros Foundation Moldova, Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, Association "Media and Democracy", Moldovan section of the Francophone Press Union, the city and Eurometropolis in Strasbourg, the daily newspaper "Les Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace", the Center for University Studies in Journalism (Cuej), the Strasbourg-Europe press club in France.
