Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/- CNA detained a policeman from Edinet after he tried to organize the issuance of a driving license against a bribe of 900 euros and 6,180 MDL.
According to the CNA, the lawman is being criminally investigated by anti-corruption officers and prosecutors on a case on influence peddling. He allegedly extorted and received 900 euros and 6,180 lei, under the pretext that he could organize the process of issuing a driving license, from the schooling stage to the actual issuance of the category C and E car license.
Initially, the lawman allegedly claimed that he could cause public persons from the Transport Registration and Driver Qualification Section of Edinet to issue a driving license, for which he would have received 700 euros. Subsequently, he allegedly demanded another 6,180 lei to arrange the candidate's enrollment in a state driving school, so that he does not attend classes. Another 200 euros would have been received to organize the urgency of issuing confirmatory schooling documents and to successfully pass the internal examination at the respective driving school.
If found guilty, the suspect risks a fine or imprisonment for up to 6 years.
