Cahul to get 2.77million euros for water supply, sewerage

Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Finance, on behalf of the government and Cahul municipality, and the Development Bank of Germany (KfW), on behalf of the Government of Germany signed additional Agreement on implementation of the grant and project EU for Moldova: Clean Water for Cahul of 2.77 million euros (grant).
The agreement is meant to co-finance the project Water supply and sewerage in Cahul district financed under the Financing Agreement and the Project concluded on August 1, 2018 between KfW, the Republic of Moldova and the municipality of Cahul, according to which KfW granted our country a grant in the amount of 23.5 million euros, later supplemented by the European Union with 10.12 million euros, said sources from the Ministry of Finance.
The purpose of the project is to rehabilitate and expand the water supply and sewerage infrastructure in Cahul district. This activity will bring tangible results directly to the population of Cahul district, by minimizing health risks, targeting local public administration authorities (Cahul municipality, Cahul district, Cotihana and Crihana Veche villages), Apa Canal Cahul, South Regional Development Agency and civil society , and will improve environmental protection and smarter use of natural resources.
Through this additional funding, the total project budget will amount to 36.4 million euros in non-reimbursable assistance, including a 12.9 million euros European Union contribution.
