World Bank to adapt interventions to Moldovan government priorities

Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/- Ongoing projects and new perspectives for cooperation were examined yesterday at government by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, Arup Banerji, regional director of the World Bank for Eastern Europe, and Inguna Dobraja, country manager of the financial institution in Chisinau, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
Natalia Gavrilița pointed out the valuable support provided by the World Bank to the Republic of Moldova over the years, especially the emergency support to support the health system provided in the pandemic context.
The sides discussed the status of ongoing projects for energy interconnection, repair of local roads, digitization of public services, reconstruction of schools. Natalia Gavrilița also underlined the government's efforts to speed up financing of water supply and sewerage systems and the construction of the Soroca treatment plant.
The Prime Minister urged the World Bank to support the Executive's efforts to coordinate external assistance and ensure the productivity of implementation units. In turn, the World Bank team showed openness to work closely with the Cabinet of Ministers and to adapt its interventions to the priorities of the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
