Moldovan interior ministry submits proposals on road traffic in Chisinau

Chisinau, 22 September /MOLDPRES/- Specialists in road safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs convened in first working meeting with Chisinau city hall representatives yesterday.

Situation in the capital was analyzed, the main causes that create impediments in road traffic, especially at roundabouts and pedestrian crossings.

The collaborators of the National Inspectorate of Public Security presented the missions for which the police crews are responsible and showed their willingness to work with the representatives of the mayor's office for the most urgent solution of all existing problems.

At the same time, the police came with a set of proposals to the municipality, including: reorganization of road traffic on certain parts of the road, arrangement with lighting and intelligent traffic lights of roundabouts with increased risk of traffic jams, but also pedestrian crossings, quality and maintenance road markings, installation of road signs in visible places, arrangement of parking places and stopping places for public transport.

Also, the MAI leadership reiterated the initiative of a draft law that will allow the ascertaining agents within the mayor's office to document the drivers for illegal parking.

Another topic discussed refers to the illegal races that take place at the exits from the city or even on the main boulevards of the city, these being a major risk of accidents in road traffic. In this context, special operations will be carried out to identify these races and document the drivers involved.

At the end of the meeting, an action plan was drawn up, to be implemented in the next month, as well as monitoring their implementation through the direct involvement of the joint working group.
