Minimum guaranteed monthly income to be 1,196 lei from 1 October

Chisinau, 22 September /MOLDPRES/- The cabinet today approved the indexation of the minimum guaranteed monthly income. Thus, on October 1, 2021, the guaranteed minimum monthly income will be indexed by 3.86% and will amount to 1,196 lei, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The guaranteed minimum income is used to establish the right to social assistance and / or aid for the cold period of the year for disadvantaged families. The provisions are contained in the Regulation on the establishment and payment of social assistance approved today by the Government.

According to the data from the Automated Information System Social Assistance, in the first half of 2021 the average number of disadvantaged families receiving social assistance was about 52,950 families.

The average size of the social assistance benefit was 1096 lei, and after indexation it will be 1138.5 lei (increasing by 42.5 lei).

The indexation of the minimum guaranteed monthly income for October, November and December of 2021 will require additional expenditures from the budget in the amount of 6.75 million lei. The means are to be provided when amending the State Budget Law for the current year.

The guaranteed minimum monthly income shall be indexed each year on 1 April and 1 October. On April 1, the indexation coefficient is the average annual increase in consumer price indices for the last 3 years, and on October 1 - the inflation rate recorded in the first half of the current year. The indexation coefficient is established by the Government.
