European Cooperation Day marked in Moldova

Chisinau, 26 September /MOLDPRES/ - The European Cooperation Day in Moldova, which has reached the tenth edition, was marked on 25 September. An event with the slogan, Let us overcome borders for an improved cooperation, was held in Chisinau on this occasion.  

More exactly, the participants in the event unveiled the results of the programmes carried out in Moldova with the support of EU and Romania, which recorded performances in more sectors, such as health, education, economic, social development, security.  

Head of the European Union’s Delegation in Moldova Jānis Mažeiks attended the event. The official said that each programme backed the priorities of cooperation between EU and the partner states and the projects’ results were visible all over the country.  

Attending the event were also the plenipotentiary minister at Romania’s Embassy in Chisinau, Marius Ciprian Toth, representatives of Moldova’s Presidency, Government, among whom Health Minister Ala Nemerenco.     

Among the projects presented, there was also the programme on cross-border cooperation for the period 2014-2020.  The health minister came up with a message of gratitude for the foreign partners, in the context of the support provided for the development of Moldova’s health system.  

„Due to the support provided by EU and Romania, Moldova was able to carry out the project, Cross-Border Cooperation Programme for 2014-2020, thanks to which the Emergency Receptions Unit of the Emergency Medicine Institute from the capital will be built and the concerned unit from the Balti Clinical Hospital will be reconstructed. The works are planned to be completed in next November and, respectively, in June 2022. The emergency medical assistance system is a priority for the public health, especially in the context of management of the pandemic crisis,’’ Ala Nemerenco said.  

It is worth to be mentioned that, starting from 2014, 126 missions of air and medical evacuation of patients have been carried out, of which 52 missions with the support of the state enterprise, Moldaeroservice,and 61 secondary air and medical missions within the cooperation programme.   

“I convey you high appreciation for the dedication proved and I am sure that we will continue the reforms’ implementation with the same responsibility and your commitment helps create a stronger health system,’’ the minister stressed.

The event was organized in the context of the Joint Operational Programme Romania-Moldova, financed by the European Union.
