Chisinau, 6 October /MOLDPRES/- The first technological hub for teacher training of the National Center for Digital Innovation in Education Class of the Future was inaugurated yesterday on International Education Day and Teacher's Day. Located within the Ion Creanga State Pedagogical University, the innovation center comes to support an ecosystem including digital education, technology and connectivity in schools.

Developed after the Future Classroom Lab of the European Schoolnet in Brussels (organization supported by 33 Ministries of Education in the European Union), the Center aims to strengthen the digital skills of teachers and students, in the conditions of migration in the digital space of education processes.

The National Center Class of the Future is a strategic partnership of over 1.8 million dollars achieved through the coalition of the efforts of the Government (Ministry of Education and Research and "Ion Creanga" University) and development partners: US Agency for International Development (USAID), Sweden , UK, Orange and LED Foundation.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization, Iurie Țurcanu, the "Class of the Future" is a symbol of the fact that education must be innovated, along with the other engineering sectors. "During this period of reinvention, teachers rediscovered themselves through technology and the application of these innovative tools in the educational process. At present, universities and schools can have their own media studios, laboratories for innovation, through which to attract children, support them and generate new ideas. As a state, we need innovation and unique experiences, because our ambition is to be as competitive as possible and to accelerate the use of technologies and to create IT jobs at home ”, said Ţurcanu.

The innovation center Class of the Future covers an area of one thousand square meters and is arranged in six areas (innovate, develop, create, present, explore and communicate) where teachers, students and all those interested in technology can study, research and develop their skills using information technologies.

For the endowment of the space with flexible furniture, equipment, decoration and the necessary technique, but also the renovation costs, 450 thousand dollars were spent, of which three million Moldovan lei were offered by the State Pedagogical University Ion Creanga. Currently, the Class of the Future initiative is replicated in 42 schools in 22 localities in the country, and over 1,300 teachers and 9,000 students are already beneficiaries of this project.
