Chisinau Mine might become tourist object

Chisinau, 7 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau city hall is set to identify solutions and financial sources to maintain the Chisinau Mine stock company functional.

A group of representatives of the city hall and the Municipal Council paid a working visit to the aforementioned object, where they assessed the current situation and found out the problems which might hit the good work of the limestone mine.

The enterprise’s representatives said that the water accumulated in some galleries at present was extracted and used by municipal administrations. They also said that a feasibility study had been carried out, which showed the risks which might appear, as well as the way of the city hall’s intervention to prevent them.

In the context, some municipal councilors made a proposal to invest sources from the local budget, so that the Chisinau Mine can work and become a tourist object in the long run.

The Chisinau Mine stock company deals with the extraction of limestone and was set up in 1969. The object is at the outskirts of Chisinau, in the Rascani district, and is functional.
