Moldovan president congratulates winners of World Wrestling Championship from Norway

Chisinau, 7 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has conveyed a message to Moldovan sportswomen Irina Ringaci and Iulia Leorda, who won the title of champion and, respectively, vice champion in free-style wrestling in Oslo (Norway) on 6 October, the presidential press service has reported.

„An impressive performance of our wrestlers at the World Wrestling Championship in Oslo! Irina Ringaci, a sportswoman of only 20 years of age from Leova, made us proud of our country, winning in a fierce fight the first golden medal in the history of women’s free-style wrestling in seniors from Moldova. Her colleague, Iulia Leorda, won the silver medal,’’ Maia Sandu said.

The head of state said that this was a great success in the history of the Moldovan sport and it was due to these strong and courageous young women. ‘’They proved that impossible can be possible through work, ambition and dedication. Congratulations to the champions, congratulations to coaches Andrei Chiperi and Anatol Guidea and congratulations to the parents who backed them!’’ President Maia Sandu stressed.
