Chisinau city hall to issue municipal bonds

Chisinau, 8 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) today approved the issuance of municipal bonds by the Chisinau city hall, with the support of a commercial bank.
The bonds will have a payment date of 7 years and will be issued with the support of a commercial bank, which won a tender for the supply of intermediary services for the signing/placing of the first issuance of municipal bonds.
According to the municipal councilors, these transferable securities will allow attracting funds for the modernization of the trolley busses’ park from Chisinau. The Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, has earlier informed that, in 2021, the city hall’s budget had planned investments worth 99 million lei to this end. ‘’A part of this money will be paid based on a bank loan; the other part will be paid based on the profit accumulated from the issuance of municipal bonds, which will be bought by people interested,’’ the mayor noted.
The first municipal bonds were issued in Moldova by the Sangera mayoralty, Chisinau city, and the Ceadar-Lunga mayoralty. With the funds got, the Sangera mayoralty will build an aqueduct in the Revaca settlement and the Ceadar-Lunga mayoralty will improve the roads from the town.
