Czech Republic supports development of organic farming in Moldova

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/- Projects in the organic farming and rural development sectors, implemented in the Republic of Moldova with the support of the Czech Development Agency were evaluated last week by a group of foreign experts.

The results of the evaluation were examined at a synthesis meeting, held late last week with the participation of minister Viorel Gherciu and Czech ambassador to Chisinau Stanislav Kazecky.

Gherciu said that the organic farming system must be supported, because it ensures the delivery of healthy food to consumers and a high level of biodiversity.

"The demand for organic products is constantly growing, which gives producers the chance to expand their marketing opportunities. Supporting this sector is a priority for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, and one of the objectives set out in the National Strategy for Agricultural and Rural Development is to further ensure the consolidation of this sector ", the Minister said.

The Czech ambassador said that the Republic of Moldova can rely on the support and experience of the Czech Republic in order to advance cooperation relations in the fields related to agriculture. "In Moldova, the agricultural sector is a fundamental one and that is why we will continue to support it in order to achieve performance, to generate quality products with a beneficial influence on both the health of citizens and the environment," the diplomat said.

On October 4-8, in our country there was a mission of experts from the Czech Republic who analyzed the evolution of the projects and the performances obtained. In this regard, interviews were conducted with 30 respondents from non-governmental organizations and profile associations, control and research institutions, etc.
