Moldovan, European officials approach cooperation

Chisinau, 12 October /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, on a working visit to Brussels held a lot of meetings aimed at intensifying cooperation with the European Union and monitoring the implementation of those agreed during the visit of Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, the MAEIE press service has reported.

The meeting with Oliver Varhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, discussed the preparation for the meeting of the Association Council of the Republic of Moldova - European Union scheduled for October 28, which will highlight the priority actions to be taken by the Republic of Moldova to achieve objectives set for the implementation of the Association Agreement with the European Union.

"The messages sent by the European partners revealed their full openness in order to support our country in carrying out the reforms. It is important to capitalize on this openness, including by exemplary mobilization of all the institutions concerned, the fulfillment of the commitments assumed in relation to the EU coincides with the mandate received by the Government from the citizens, which can only facilitate our European path", said Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu.

Discussions with Katarína Mathernová, Deputy Director-General of the Neighborhood and Negotiations Directorate on Enlargement within the European Commission, and Michael Siebert, Director for Russia, the Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation and the OSCE, European External Action Service, discussed the best way. to capitalize on the Economic Recovery Plan and the prospects for launching thematic dialogues at high level.

The Moldovan official also had a meeting with Fernando Andresen Guimaraes, diplomatic adviser to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

At the same time, during the discussions, topics were addressed regarding the possibilities of accessing macro-financial assistance, the situation in the energy sphere and other topical issues on the internal and external agenda of the Republic of Moldova.
