Moldova marks 100th birthday anniversary of academicianului Tadeusz Malinowski

Chisinau, 14 October /MOLDPRES/ - The 100th birthday anniversary of physicist, PhD in physical and mathematical sciences, university professor, titular member of Moldova’s Academy of Sciences (ASM), State Prize laureate Tadeusz Malinowski is marked today.  

Tadeusz Malinowski was born in Chisinau on 14 October 1921. He studied at the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of the Ion Creanga Pedagogical Institute from Chisinau (1940-44). He worked as head of the physics and mathematics section of the Moldovan Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR during 1950-1961. He acted as deputy director of the Physics and Mathematics Institute of ASM in 19061-1964, deputy director of the Institute of Applied Physics of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences (1964- 1974, 1978-1988).  Malinowski led the laboratory of the X-ray structure analysis of the Institute of Applied Physics.

He was author of over 650 scientific works, including monographs and monographic collections. He wrote works on the atomic and crystalline structure of more complex compounds and semi-conductors, works on the ways of deciphering crystalline structures. Malinowski participated with essays in international conferences on issues of crystallography of physics and chemistry abroad: France, England, USA, Israel, Japan, Poland, China, Australia, the Netherlands, Germany etc. He trained 29 PhDs in physical and mathematical sciences.      

Tadeusz Malinowski was the head of the Physicists’ Society of Moldova, of the Society Intellego of the Poles’ Society of Moldova, council of awarding scientific degrees, member of the International Union of Crystallographers, International Union of Theoretical Physics. He was member of the Presidium of the Moldova’s Academy of Sciences, Bureau of the Section of physical and mathematical sciences, active lecturer of the Stiinta (Science) Society, laureate of the State Prize of Moldova. The scientist was awarded the Polish Order Knight Grand Cross – the highest Polish distinction for foreign citizens. Academician Tadeusz Malinowski passed away in Chisinau on 27 February 1996.
