More than half of Moldova's grape fruit harvested

Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/- The grape harvest campaign is in full swing, with about 65 percent of the total areas of grapes for wine being harvested, and wineries have so far processed over 110 thousand tons of grapes for wine. About 70% of the wine-growing areas were harvested in the South wine region, and about 60 percent of the vineyards in the Central region.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the purchase price of grapes from wine producers is 7.0-8.0 lei / kg. For the production of wines raw material for distillation, the price of wine varieties varies between 4.0-4.5 lei / kg, and that of table varieties (grapes of non-conforming quality for fresh consumption,) ranges between 3.5-4 .0 lei / kg. Isabella type grapes are purchased at prices of 4.0-4.5 lei / kg. At the same time, at the specialized market in Chisinau, at present, the prices for grape varieties for wine amount to 10-14 lei / kg.

„At the same time, in the closing phase, the varieties with medium ripening period (Sauvignon, Fetească group, Aligote, Merlot) are harvested and the varieties with late ripening period (Rkaţiteli, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rară Neagră, etc.) have started harvesting. The average grape harvest, in the vineyard plantations, varies from 5-6 t / ha to 10-12 t / ha, and in the wine farms it is 4-7 tons / ha. The average harvest of table grapes oscillates from 5-6 t / ha to 11-13 t / ha ”, MAIA said.

In the vineyards with modern support systems (Pergola and Gable type) the average grape production amounts to 20-25 t / ha. Simultaneously with the sale of fresh table grapes, part of the harvest (mainly of the Moldova variety) is stored for storage. In this regard, specialists estimate a quantity of about 35 thousand tons of grapes. The wholesale price for table varieties on the domestic market varies between 8.0 and 11.0 lei per kg, and for export - 8.0-9.0 lei / kg, depending on the quality of the grapes.

According to the information of the Customs Service, the export of table grapes from this year's harvest is over 14.7 thousand tons, the dynamics being similar to the previous year. The main export destinations of the current harvest are the following markets: Russian Federation (8.2 thousand tons), Romania (2.83 thousand tons), Belarus (1.31 thousand tons), Ukraine (1.1 thousand tons) and Poland ( 0.81 thousand tons).
