Man detained after pretending to be police officer

Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/- A man from the capital was detained by prosecutors from the Chisinau Prosecutor's Office and officers of the Internal Protection and Anti-Corruption Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, suspected of pimping.

According to the General Prosecutor's Office, the man's actions have been investigated since June. The suspect acted as an employee of the Anti-Drug Directorate within the National Investigation Inspectorate, recruiting several young women, whom he convinced to prostitute themselves.

Thus, within the criminal prosecution actions, three other accomplices were identified at the commission of the crime. The suspect was previously investigated for narcotics trafficking.

The suspect was detained for 72 hours, and was subsequently remanded in custody for a period of 30 days.
